Cleansers

Not everyone does. Most skin is fine with one thorough, gentle cleanse. Double cleansing, an oil-based cleanser followed by a water-based one, is most useful at night if you wear long-wear make-up, heavy SPF, or have oily, blemish-prone skin. If you have eczema, rosacea or sensitive skin it can be drying, so once is usually enough.

For most people, yes. Cleansing at night removes make-up, SPF, sweat and pollution built up through the day, while a gentle morning cleanse freshens skin before your routine. If your skin is very dry or sensitive, rinsing with water in the morning and cleansing properly at night can be enough. Use lukewarm, not hot, water.

That tight, squeaky-clean feeling usually means the cleanser has stripped too much of your skin natural oils, which can disrupt the barrier and lead to dryness or irritation over time. A well-suited cleanser leaves skin clean but comfortable. If yours feels tight, switch to a gentler, fragrance-free or cream formula.
