Where should I apply blush for my face shape?
For most faces, smile and apply to the apples of the cheeks, then blend up toward the cheekbone. Rounder faces can place blush a little higher and sweep toward the temples to add lift, while sharper, more angular faces suit colour kept on the apples to soften. Blend well so there are no hard edges.
Cream or powder blush — which is better?
Neither is universally better; it depends on your skin. Cream and liquid blushes give a dewy, skin-like finish and suit dry or mature skin. Powder is more pigmented and longer-lasting, and generally works better on oily skin. Order matters too: press cream blush on before powder, and dust powder blush on after setting.
How do I stop blush looking too harsh?
Use less product and build slowly — tap off any excess before applying. Blend the edges thoroughly with a clean brush, sponge or fingers, and if it’s too strong, buff a little foundation or powder over the top to soften it. Applying with a lighter hand from the start is the easiest fix.
