Styling products broadly split by when you use them and the finish they give. Mousse is applied to damp hair before drying to add body and soft volume without stiffness. Used sensibly, styling products sit on the hair rather than harming it, though product build-up can leave hair dull, so cleanse well between uses. Most day-to-day damage comes from heat styling rather than the product itself. Using a heat protectant before hot tools, and not overloading hair with product, keeps things in good condition.
